news: Bond lifts UK prospects abroad

International trade officials are predicting the UK creative industries could benefit from a wave of positive sentiment in overseas markets this autumn.

Key findings from the latest UK Creative Industries Tracker Survey include:

  • 51 per cent thought UK creative industry exports increased in the last three months, compared to only 9 per cent who reported a decline.
  • 64 per cent of respondents expected sentiment about the UK’s creative industries to improve further in the next three months.
  • The TV, film, fashion and music sectors attracted most interest. The release of the Bond movie, Spectre, drew particular attention.

The survey questions trade advisers for UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office about the standing of UK creative sectors internationally. The survey covers exports and investments, as well as perceptions.
